Theology Major

Students who major in Theology become perceptive, critical readers of the biblical text and of theological literature. They are able to interpret the Bible for themselves and for others confidently. The major provides a foundation for seminary or graduate studies, and based on the minor, for various entry-level ministry, missions, education, and social service opportunities.
The Theology Major requires completion of the following 128 credits:
General Education (57 credit hours)
Major Core (39 credit hours)
Electives (32 credit hours)

Biblical Studies (12 credit hours)
Take the following four courses (some courses are cross-listed and only one prefix needs to be taken): Communication (12 credit hours)
Take each of the following four courses: Arts and Humanities (9 credit hours)
Take one course from each of the following three academic disciplines: Philosophy (3 credit hours)
Fine Arts (3 credit hours)
Choose one course from the following: Literature (3 credit hours)
Choose one course from the following: Social Sciences (15 credit hours)
Take each of the following five courses: Mathematics (3 credit hours)
Requirements
The Bachelor of Arts in Theology requires completion of at least 128 semester hours, including all general education requirements, the major courses, and a minor or electives in a field of interest: Theology Major (39 credit hours)
Old Testament / New Testament (15 credit hours)
Theology / History (12 credit hours)
Ministry / Spiritual Formation (6 credit hours)
Foreign Language (6 credit hours)
To earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, a student must demonstrate proficiency by completing a 2-semester sequence (a minimum of 6 credit hours) in Greek, Hebrew, or Latin. |
